Wedding Videographer vs. Content Creator: What’s the Difference?

What’s the difference between a wedding videographer and a content creator? Great question! I call myself a videographer because I film documentaries, I have a background in journalism, and I do all kinds of video editing and filming for clients. I’m actually a multimedia producer – I create not only with images but by combining videos with music and a storyline. I create experiences with videography – an art I’ve developed over 15+ years in the industry.

In the wedding world, I’m called a ‘content creator’ because I not only film weddings, but I also edit the wedding footage into captivating moments – creating long and short videos in a cinematic way. I put all of the experiences from the wedding together into a succinct video storyline that makes the viewer feel the intimate moments of the wedding day. I apply the methods I use in my career for all of my productions to bring out the emotion and presence of the wedding.

Raw footage is just a film of the wedding without much artistry. I know how to use lighting, focus points, and angles to create captivating “raw” footage, but the real magic is in the editing later. I make my wedding content come alive through multimedia storytelling creation.

I can create a storyline that involves the events of the wedding day in a way that can be seen within 1-3 minutes (or anything longer), perfect for social media reels to share with followers and important people who couldn’t attend the wedding. You can see what I mean in my portfolio.

So, a wedding content creator is a videographer who specializes in a certain type of multimedia and editing. A good wedding content creator will know how to evoke a certain kind of emotional reaction through the art of video editing and the use of multimedia.
