Start With the Room

The setup does not need to be complicated. A soft key light for each speaker, balanced exposure, and a small background or rim light can create a professional image. Glasses, reflective surfaces, and mixed color temperatures should be checked before recording.

Plan the Recording Before the Guest Arrives

Allow enough time for camera placement, lighting, microphones, sound checks, and a short test recording. The guest should not have to wait while technical problems are being solved.

Before filming, confirm the approximate episode length, format, number of speakers, and whether the final content will be horizontal, vertical, or both. If short social media clips are part of the plan, the framing should leave enough room for vertical crops.

Think About Editing in Advance

Production decisions affect the final edit. A clean recording with synchronized cameras, consistent lighting, clear audio, and organized files saves time and reduces problems later.

Decide whether the finished episode will include an intro, captions, name graphics, music, sponsor messages, or short promotional clips. Having these elements planned before the shoot makes the entire process more efficient.
